What is Just 4 Kicks? Our Just 4 Kicks program is primarily devoted to the enjoyment and development of soccer players without emphasis on game structure and team play. The purpose of Just 4 Kicks is to provide an opportunity for the participants to have fun, learn the sport at their own pace, and develop some confidence before entering our House League and/or FC Travelling teams.
How much does it cost? We strive to keep the fees as low as possible to allow as many youths to experience the game as possible. The fees for Just 4 Kicks include SSA player insurance, field rental, equipment usage, and staff salary for our Administrative Assistant. There is a $50 fundraising bond in addition to the fees. This bond will be applied to your account at the end of the season for players whose parent/guardian/older family members do not fulfill the fundraising requirement.
I am funded through JumpStart, KidSport, or another Financial Assistance program, do I have to pay the volunteer bond? Yes, unless you coach a team, volunteer for tournaments, join one of our committees, become a Board Member, etc.
Do Just 4 Kicks players have uniforms? No. Players wear shorts and t-shirts of their choosing. MJSA t-shirts are available for purchase but are not mandatory.
Do Just 4 Kicks players play games? No, these players do not play games. Stations are set up each day specific to a skill such as shooting, dribbling, passing, etc. There will always be pug nets and cones set up for those players who wish to work at their own pace or on their specific interests.
Who coaches Just 4 Kicks? We do not have coaches per se in this program. Instead, parent or student volunteers engage with the children and help them as needed. They must provide clean criminal record checks if they are 18+, take the Respect in Sport training, and are provided with age-appropriate stations/drills/activities. We strongly encourage everyone interested to take advantage of the coaching education that MJSA can provide through Canada Soccer.
